Growing up in Musselburgh, Mid Lothian Debs always loved to read but had a ‘thing’ with authority. Leaving school as soon as she could she worked in an Edinburgh bakers for many years before moving to the Borders area of Scotland with her soulmate Fiona where they enjoyed rescuing old properties, traveling whenever they could and living quietly with their dogs. In the Borders, Debs discovered a passion for food when she started working alongside inspiring chefs at a country house hotel. At age 44 Debs took the plunge and went back to school, studying in Northumberland. Her love of books and writing intensified and after immigrating to the United States in 2016, inspired in part by her favorite authors descriptions of Arizona, the book that had been in her head since she was 18 came to fruition resulting in ‘On the Chair.’
Now a resident of Tucson with Fiona, her partner of over 30 years, and their dogs she enjoys hiking, embracing the wildlife found in Arizona and road trips exploring this vast country that is now her home.
